On February 25th, 2025, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College in Tiruchirappalli orchestrated a heartening outreach program, “A Special Day Out for Children with Special Needs,” at the Trichy Birds Park. This initiative showcased the college’s commitment to social responsibility and inclusivity. The event was a collaborative effort, bringing together the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Research Department of Zoology from the college, alongside the Dolphin Special School and Seagull Special School.

The day’s activities were designed to provide a stimulating and enjoyable experience for the 65 students and 45 faculty members from the participating special schools. The presence of 39 NCC cadets, accompanied by their Associate NCC officers from both the Army and Airwing, added a layer of support and camaraderie. Furthermore, the active participation of students and faculty from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics ensured a well-organized and engaging outing.

The choice of Trichy Birds Park as the venue offered the children an opportunity to immerse themselves in a natural environment, fostering sensory stimulation and learning. The event aimed to create a space where the children could interact, explore, and experience joy, while also promoting awareness and understanding among the participating college students and NCC cadets.
