
Today (22.02.2026) at 12 noon, following a request from the public regarding water logging in the Srirangam Assembly constituency under the Trichy Parliamentary constituency and the Pazhur and Pettavaithalai railway tunnels under the Salem railway division, Durai Vaiko MP conducted a field inspection in the areas.

To prevent water from accumulating in the Pazhur tunnel, Durai Vaiko MP instructed the railway officials to ensure that the water accumulated in the tunnel is drained by motor at specified intervals and to immediately repair the leak that has formed there.
They assured that steps will be taken to resolve it immediately.

Following this, Durai Vaiko MP conducted a field inspection in the Pettavaithalai railway tunnel and instructed to carry out the necessary work quickly to prevent water from accumulating there as well. The officials assured that they would provide a solution to that as well.

Further, the Town Panchayat Chairman, who was present there, requested Durai Vaiko to grant permission from the Railway Department to repair the sewage line passing through the nearby railway area as per the public demand, and he requested the Railway officials to grant permission immediately. They also agreed to that.

Durai Vaiko MP expressed confidence that today’s field inspection, which was carried out keeping in mind the welfare and safety of the public, was completed effectively.

During this field inspection, high-ranking officials of the Salem Railway Division, Sirugamani Town Panchayat Chairman Sivakama Sundari, District Congress President K.R. Rajalingam, Marumalarchi DMK District Secretaries Vellamandi I. Somu, Manavai Tamilmanickam, Sirugamani Town Panchayat Ward Members, social activists, women and many others participated.
